Tourism in Intag

Intag, located in the canton of Cotacachi, province of Imbabura, is the central axis for the development of this comprehensive tourism proposal. This area is known for its biodiversity, mountainous landscapes, cloudy forests and hot springs

Characterization of the Intag area

The Intag Valley is located in a mountainous region of the Andes, located north of Ecuador, specifically in the Cotacachi canton, province of Imbabura. It is made up of seven parishes: Apuela, Cuellaje, García Moreno, Plaza Gutiérrez, Peñaherrera and Vacas Galindo, which belong to the Cotacachi canton, and Selva Alegre, which is part of the Otavalo canton. Intag is considered a biodiverse valley and acts as a buffer for the Cotacachi Cayapas National Park. In addition, it is part of two of the most important biological areas in the world: The Tropical Andes and the chocolate bioregion, both considered two of the 36 "hotspots" or biodiversity hotspots on the planet. This area extends over Intag Alley, at the foothills of the Cordillera de Toisán.
